Old Fort Tompkins Light
1997 4 x 6 inches edition: 100 This lighthouse at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island was constructed after the originl tower was determained to be too near the guns of Fort Tompkins for its own safty. By the 1890’s it was decided that its new location was too far inland for the beacon to be usefull, so the structure was carefully taken apart and put into storage. No one has seen it since.
